How can employers support breastfeeding & pumping employees?
The New York State Department of Health has a free, in depth guide that assists employers in complying with state and federal laws and explains the basic needs of employees, common sense solutions, resources, and FAQs.
What are my rights as a breastfeeding employee?
New York State Labor Law Section 206-c requires your employer to provide you with 30 minutes of paid break time when you need to pump breast milk at work. For more information on your rights in the workplace, please view the New York State Department of Labor’s (NYSDOL) policy here on The Department of Labor’s website.
For more information regarding expressing breastmilk, please view the New York State Department of Health’s Breast Feeding Bill of Rights at health.ny.gov/publications/2028/.
