Tobacco Dependence Treatment

Smoking causes many serious illnesses, including cancer, heart disease, stroke, diabetes, and lung diseases. According to the CDC, more than 16 million Americans are living with a chronic condition caused by smoking.

Through our Heath Systems for a Tobacco-Free NY Grant, funded by the New York State Department of Health Tobacco Control Program, we work with health care systems in nine Greater Capital District counties * to improve the reach and delivery of evidence-based tobacco dependence treatment (TDT).

Who do we work with?

With our extensive experience, we can tailor TDT strategies for many different kinds of organizations, including medical and behavioral providers. We do, however, have a special interest in working with agencies that focus on underserved populations, such as hospitals, community health centers and federally qualified health centers.

What services can we offer?

Drawing upon the Public Health Service Guidelines for Treating Tobacco Use and Dependence, our dedicated staff encourages provider intervention by:

Providing training on best-practices for addressing tobacco dependence

Navigating insurance coverage options to maximize reimbursement
